Description
Program for kids age 8 and older. National Ukulele Day was earlier this month, but it’s never too late to celebrate! Want to try an instrument that is fun and easy to play? Join Julie Stepanek as she shows the fundamentals of ukulele playing. No experience necessary. Julie covers the basics in this introductory class, teaching participants how to hold the ukulele, strum, fret, and read chords and then she will lead everyone through some fun and easy songs. Ukuleles provided but feel free to bring your own! Originally from Nebraska, Julie Stepanek was front person for the band, Calamine, before she moved to a pine forest in western Massachusetts, raised a son and taught herself how to play the ukulele. She’s been sharing the joys of music for the last thirteen years at libraries, senior centers, and pre-schools throughout New England. Essex Library programs are free and open to the public. Space is limited, register!
