Shoreline, CT is going to the dogs! We love our four-legged family members, and it's always fun to take them to new places. Here are some upcoming Shoreline, CT events, along with patios and dog parks where well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Should you take your dog?
Before choosing to take your dog out and about in Shoreline, CT consider whether your dog (and you!) will have a good experience. Typically, well-behaved, socialized dogs who are comfortable around people and other dogs are ideal for these settings. Ensuring your dog is friendly, leash-trained, and non-disruptive will help everyone enjoy their time. Always check specific venue policies and consider your dog's temperament to ensure a pleasant outing for all.

Shoreline, CT Animal Shelters and Volunteer Opportunities
These might not be the best places to take your own dog, but we wanted to give our Shoreline, CT shelters a shout-out too and let you know about potential volunteer opportunities for your family that give you a chance to make a difference in the lives of pooches in need in Shoreline, CT!
Valley Shore Animal Welfare League
- Valley Shore Animal Welfare League (also known as 'VSAWL') was founded in 1972 by a group of women that saw an increasing need for animal-oriented programs along the shoreline of Connecticut. The League now owns and operates a no-kill shelter that serves as an adoption facility for dogs and cats.
- 647 Horse Hill Rd
Westbrook, CT - https://www.valleyshoreanimalwelfareleague.org/about-us
- Volunteer Opportunities: Without the support of our community, we would not be able to keep the shelter running. There are tons of ways to get involved at VSAWL. From volunteering, fostering, to donating, anything helps!
There are other opportunities to help out as well. Simply liking and sharing our animals on Facebook, we can obtain a wider reach. Your share might help one of our residents find the perfect home!
We are always looking for new opportunities to fundraise and reach out to our community. In the past we have worked with local businesses, groups and individuals to reach our fundraising goals. We love partnering with our shoreline community and the animals thank you for your help and support!
The Animal Haven
- The Animal Haven is a private, not-for-profit animal shelter that has been providing refuge to homeless cats and dogs since 1948. The Animal Haven was established as a no-kill shelter, which it continues to be to this day. This means that we will not euthanize an animal, except when it is in the best interest of a sick or dying animal. The shelter is located in a beautiful, wooded area on a seven-acre parcel of land located in North Haven, CT.
